The Top 11--Thia Megia, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams, Naima Adedapo, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald and Haley Reinhart--continue their IDOL journey this week as judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler chose to use the this season's one and only Judges Save on Casey Abrams.
This also means that this week, the two IDOL finalists with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. The good news is that for the first time in IDOL history, the Top 11, instead of the usual Top 10, will get to travel and perform all over the U.S. for the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2011.
For this week's performance night, which airs this Thursday, 6 pm, the Top 11 will take on songs from the 1980s. And on results night this Friday, 6 pm, AI Season 3 champ Fantasia will perform her new single, "Collard Greens & Cornbread."
Will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas and Academy Award and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx will also take the IDOL stage to perform "Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)," from the animated feature film Rio.
Last week, Megia was in the bottom three, along with Abrams and Langone. This is a crucial week for the soft-spoken 16-year-old from California . Can she deliver a knockout performance on '80s night? Whose IDOL journeys will end this week?
Catch American Idol's performance night this Thursday, 6 pm (with same day replay at 10 pm) and the results night on Friday, 6 pm (with same day replay at 10 pm) only on GMA News TV Channel 11.

Richard Gutierrez reinterprets his role as the superhero Captain Barbell, and his alter ego, Teng. While Richard has immensely grown as an actor, so did Captain Barbell, who is now set to take on a greater mantle of protecting good from evil, still bearing of course, his iconic red cape.
The story picks up where it left off from the first series with Teng and his besotted Leah (Rhian Ramos) settling down in the city. But their simple life takes a dark turn when Leah is killed and becomes a heart donor to an undisclosed recipient.
In the spirit of true heroism, Captain Barbell fights through his sorrow and continues his quest for peace and order. He meets his strongest opponent in Nero (Christopher de Leon), an evil genius, who became rich through his malevolent ways. Teng, on the other hand, clashes with Gregor (TJ Trinidad), whose father owns the tenement where Teng lives.
Meanwhile, during a freak storm formed by Nero, Captain Barbell helps a woman give birth in the tenement. This woman soon dies thus leaving Teng with the responsibility of taking care of the child, whom Teng names Leah or Lelay (Jillian Ward). At the same time, a strong lightning strikes Teng’s barbell, which in turn spreads unique superpowers among some of the tenants.
Years later, these tenants begin to discover their newfound gifts with some of them choosing to harness their superpowers for good, others for evil. One of them is Gregor, who has grown more jealous and hateful towards Teng. Gregor teams up with Nero, and along with the other supervillains, declares war against Captain Barbell.
On the other hand, General Armando (Eddie Gutierrez), a rich philanthropist, joins forces with Captain Barbell, and urges him to pool together the new league of superheroes.
As Captain Barbell/Teng braves the dark forces, he will also struggle with matters of the heart as he tries to uncover whom between his kind next-door neighbor Melanie (Isabel Oli) and Lelay’s school teacher Althea (Lovi Poe) received Leah’s heart. He will also cross paths with two other ladies who will likewise play important roles in his life, his arrogant boss Anita (Michelle Madrigal) and the avid news reporter Jana (Solenn Heusaff).
With his extraordinary strength, unmatched fighting skills and nearly invincible armor, can Captain Barbell together with the ‘Liga ng Kalayaan’ successfully take down the supervillains, and defend his name as the ultimate protector of peace? How will he uncover the identity of Leah’s myst erious recipient? Which superheroes will form the ‘Liga ng Kalayaan’ and who will side with the evil Nero?
Four lovely and capable actresses, Isabel Oli, Lovi Poe, Michelle Madrigal and Solenn Heusaff add color to Teng/Captain Barbell’s life, while lovable child wonder Jillian Ward stars as the superhero’s sidekick/pseudo-adopted daughter. Rhian Ramos reprises her role as Leah in the pilot week of the show.
Led by veteran actor and Richard’s real life father Eddie Gutierrez, the Liga ng Kalayaan are Bianca King as Lary, General Armando’s fearless assistant; Mike Tan as Teban, a former thief-turned-ally of Captain Barbell; Jake Vargas as Alden, a young superhero who has a top as his weapon of choice; Bea Binene as Misha, another young superhero who wields power with her sword; and Frencheska Farr as Celina, the superheroine with a sonic voice.
On the other side, multi-award-winning actor Christopher de Leon heads the supervillains as Nero. Joining him are TJ Trinidad as Gregor, Teng/Captain Barbell’s fiercest enemy next to Nero; Paolo Paraiso as Rodel, the sandman; Akihiro Sato as Bruno, the hulkman; Elvis Gutierrez as Gaston, a superhero with the ability to create weapons using only his mind; Ervic Vijandre as Ricky, the flash; Sam Pinto as Sammy, the age-shifting supervillain; Ellen Adarna as Kat, the undecided sexy superhero; and Jon Hall as Rob, Anita’s egotistic business partner.
Completing the star-studded cast are Marky Lopez as Hekki, Jana’s assistant; and Ces Quesada as Tiya Lita, Lelay’s manipulative aunt.
This modern interpretation of the Mars Ravelo classic takes it a notch higher as it utilizes cutting edge 3D technology and computer-generated images or CGI in retelling the legendary story. Story-wise, 2011’s Captain Barbell promises to be more dramatic, action-packed and fast-paced than ever before.
The production design is by Australian production designer Peter Collias, who also designed the sets of international blockbusters “The Matrix” and “Moulin Rouge”, together with his Filipino counterpart Digo Ricio. The costumes are manufactured by Hong Kong based-costume maker Emily Lai of Cubedecor, while the script is written by senior creative consultant RJ Nuevas under the creative guidance of Jun Lana. Singing the theme song “Sandata” is the Pinoy rock band Shamrock.
Ace director Dominic Zapata, who has helmed top-rating fantaseryes such as Mulawin, Darna, and the first Captain Barbell, will direct this Captain Barbell sequel.
Witness the soaring and much-awaited comeback of Captain Barbell on March 28 after 24 Oras on GMA Telebabad.

His recently-concluded series Machete ended on a high note beating all counterpart programs on its final week of airing. Machete earned a 34.9 percent average household audience share in Mega Manila covering the period of March 14 to 18, 6.3 points ahead of its competitor's 28.6 percent. This is according to ratings data from widely-recognized ratings provider AGB Nielsen.
From physically preparing for his role, promoting his show, to executing his scenes, Aljur displayed admirable dedication and professionalism as an actor. His Machete diet--Aljur's personal diet of no-sweets, no carbs, just veggies, fruits and loads of kamote--became a fad, while his mall shows conducted all over the Philippines were always jampacked with screaming fans.
But make no mistake, Aljur remains humble despite his recent achievements and promises to further enhance his craft. "I am very thankful for the support of my fans, who avidly watched Machete. Of course, I am most grateful to GMA-7 for their full support all throughout the series."
With the finale of Machete, Aljur is now busy with workshops in preparation for his next project.

The show airs back-to-back with Man vs Beast, taking a portion of the Kapuso Film Festival time slot.
In Spooky Nights, a story would run for a number of weeks and would be replaced by a new one with a different cast once it finishes. Although the stories have slightly scary themes, they are basically funny and wacky.
For its first offering, Spooky Nights features Bampirella, a vampire tale that deviates from overly dramatic or commonly freaky vampire stories these days. Bampirella is a female vampire who was a mere human until she was cursed to transform into a 'beautiful yet undead creature' every time the clock strikes twelve midnight.
Kapuso primetime queen, Marian Rivera, plays as the lead character, Bampirella or Cindy. Although viewers have seen Marian playing comic as in the hit sitcom Show Me Da Manny, her portrayal in this show differs because there is conflict within her character. Cindy is naturally loving and generous but her curse turns her into the scary Bampirella.
A beautiful woman, Cindy works in a chocolate factory where Mitch (Gelli De Belen) is the manager. Unknown to Cindy, Mitch is a cunning witch and would later curse her to be an ugly human during daytime. By nightfall, she goes back to being beautiful but also becomes a vampire.
Being cursed, Cindy has only one way to be human again—to find her true love. However, she has to suck the blood and the life out of this man to really break Mitch's curse.
Will Cindy find her true love if she is ugly at daytime and a vampire at nighttime? Can she take his life once she finds him? Or will she choose to live a cursed life than to kill her one true love?
See a funny take on vampire stories and witness how true love can overcome even the craziest curse.
Adding kilig and fun to Cindy's otherwise dark world are two hot Kapuso stars: Marc Abaya stars as Armand, the rocker vampire who wants to own Cindy; and Mikael Daez, as Michael, a dentist who also applies to be her one true love. Another admirer is Dingdong Dantes in his special role as Cindy's ex-boyfriend named Alfonso.
Other cast members are: Gladys Guevarra as Rosario, Cindy's best friend; Ken De Leon as Angelina and Jervi Li as Megan Pak, Mitch's sidekicks; and the cute Isabel Nesreen Frial as Eya, Cindy's sister.
Under the direction of Director Albert Langitan with Head Writer Senedy Que, Spooky Nights Presents: Bampirella airs every Saturday before Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho in GMA's Sabado Star Power starting March 26.
Spooky Nights Presents: Bampirella can be seen by Filipino viewers worldwide beginning April 2 (Asia Pacific and Middle East) and April 3 (U.S. and Canada) on GMA Pinoy TV.

The reception to the 16-year-old's performance was only disappointing in light of the high praise she received for her standout version of Irene Cara's "Out Here on My Own" just the week before.
But her voice and pitch-perfect tone were still clearly better than the other finalists and last week, American Idol viewers agreed, giving the boot to Ashton Jones who sang Diana Ross' "When You Tell Me That You Love Me." Jones, the 24-year-old diva from Valdosta, Georgia, received the lowest number of votes last week.
This week, it's time for the Top 12--Megia, Pia Toscano, Casey Abrams, Naima Adedapo, Lauren Alaina, James Durbin, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald, Haley Reinhart and Karen Rodriguez--to take on the songs from the year they were born.
And then on results night, Grammy winning pop superstars The Black Eyed Peas and Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze will perform.
Who will deliver the knock-out performances this Thursday? And who will get knocked out of the competition on Friday? Can Megia bounce back and be among the frontrunners once again?
Catch the performance night this Thursday, March 17, 6 pm (with same day replay at 10 pm), and then find out who gets eliminated on the results show this Friday, 6 pm (with same day replay at 10 pm). The best is yet to come as the American Idol finalists soar to greater heights. Catch American Idol on GMA News TV Channel 11.

Supreme Court Dismisses ABS-CBN Case Against 'Mel and Jay' and GMA-7
By Night Owl on 11:36 PM
Filed Under:
There was no evidence that GMA had enticed Mel and Jay to break away from ABS-CBN because when the two transferred to GMA, they have already rescinded their agreements with ABS-CBN.
Mel and Jay used to host the ABS-CBN's Sunday TV show Mel & Jay. Mel was faulted by ABS-CBN for appearing on a Tide commercial in violation of a circular, which prohibits talents in its radio and news and current affairs from appearing in commercial advertisements without prior written approval of ABS-CBN. Mel Tiangco was suspended without pay from her co-anchor position in TV Patrol and Mel & Jay radio program for three months but not from her Sunday TV program Mel & Jay. Jay irrevocably resigned from Mel & Jay while Mel went on an indefinite leave from further taping of the show.
ABS-CBN sued Mel and Jay for specific performance, injunction and damages before the Regional Trial Court in Quezon City in 1996 to compel them to perform their 1994 agreements and not to appear in any other TV or radio station until 1997.
The QC RTC decided on June 26, 1998 that Mel and Jay had a valid cause to rescind its agreement with ABS-CBN, and that GMA had no part in the broken relationship between the two (2) and ABS-CBN.
ABS-CBN appealed to the CA which affirmed the decision of the RTC. In its decision of August 6, 2003, the CA held that there is no evidence which proved that Mel Tiangco violated the prohibition when she appeared on the Tide commercial. The suspension by ABS-CBN of Mel without sufficient basis in law and evidence constitutes a breach of the contract by ABS-CBN which is substantial and grievous, and justifies the unilateral action by Mel Tiangco in resolving the contract. ABS-CBN had protested that Jay may not base his rescission on that of Mel, but the CA considered the fact that Jay is redundant without Mel, much like the proverbial bow and arrow.
ABS-CBN questioned the CA's decision before the Supreme Court but the latter denied the appeal of ABS-CBN for failure to sufficiently show any reversible error in the decision of the Court of Appeals.
