The Kapuso actress will assume the role of Sheila, a compassionate veterinarian, who will cross paths with Bantay. Claudine reportedly agreed to accept the role since it will also allow her to work closely with her husband Raymart Santiago, the lead actor of the program.
It can be recalled that Raymart was Claudine's first guest in her former self-titled drama anthology in GMA-7, and now, it's the actress' turn to return the favor to her husband.
In the story, Bantay/Bernard (Raymart Santiago) meets an unfortunate accident while trying to help his friend "Lian the Puppy" and Lian's mother. A pack of dogs immediately sets off on a mission to save their injured friend and seeks help from a veterinarian named Sheila (Claudine Barretto). Doc Sheila brings Bantay into her clinic and treats his fractured leg.
While in the care of the pretty vet, Bantay discovers about Sheila's recent break-up with her boyfriend, Dexter (James Blanco). The kind Labrador also learns thru Dexter's dog, Twinkle, that Dexter is just as heartbroken as Sheila, which gives Bantay a really thoughtful idea.
As a means of repaying Sheila, Bantay teams up with Twinkle in hopes of a possible reconciliation between Sheila and Dexter. Will Bantay succeed before he moves on with his search for his family? Will Doc Sheila get her happy ending?
Claudine Barretto's special appearance in Bantatay airs this week before 24 Oras on GMA-7.

GMA Network Inc. is set to reprogram Q-TV Channel 11 into an all-news channel starting early next year to compete with ANC Channel 27 of rival ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.
Newly-installed GMA Network president Jaime Duavit said the reprogramming of Q-TV would make it the first free-to-air all-news channel in the country. ABS-CBN’s ANC Channel is part of the programs offered by cable companies.
Duavit said the reprogramming of Q-TV 11 would also prevent the cannibalization of the Channel 7 programs and mean lesser cost to the company.
Unlike the ANC Channel which is a 24-hour news and current affairs program, however, Q-TV 11 will be available from 6 in the morning until 12 midnight.
GMA Network has been providing programming for Channel 11, which is women-skewed, with a grid primarily designed according to the sector’s schedules and needs, through a co-production or block time agreement signed with ZOE Broadcasting Network in 2005.
GMA Network chairman and chief executive Felipe Gozon said he expected Q-TV to at least break even after its reprogramming.
GMA Network, which airs Channel 7 on free TV, last week reported that net income in the third quarter of the year fell 26 percent to P583 million from P788 million in the same period last year due to higher advertising rates and lower ratings during the period.
Airtime revenues dropped 12 percent to P3.049 billion in the third quarter. They comprised 92 percent of the company’s total revenues.
Despite the disappointing third-quarter figures, officials of the broadcasting firm expect the company to reach if not surpass the P3-billion net income target for the year.
Net profit of GMA Network in the first three quarters rose 6 percent to P2.272 billion from P2.149 billion on year. Revenues grew 8 percent to P10.876 billion while expenses went up 11 percent to P6.181 billion.
Revenues of Channel 7 climbed 7 percent to P9.262 billion while those of Q TV Channel 11 rose 10 percent to P346 million. International revenues rose 10 percent to P700 million while radio’s surged 73 percent to P443 million.

Since debuting with a promising 9.5 percent people ratings, GMA-7's homegrown drama continues to reign in its timeslot. It peaked at 11.3 percent (which is relatively high for a late night program) on October 27 (Wednesday) compared to its rival's 7.9 percent.
This Kapuso show aims to provide viewers with an all-exclusive backstage pass into the intriguing world of beauty pageants.
Young women can empathize with the browbeaten character of Maita played by Iza, a dutiful daughter who dedicates her dream of becoming a beauty queen to her bitter and cold-hearted mother, portrayed by veteran thespian Elizabeth Oropesa.
Viewers can also look forward to the performances of Maggie Wilson as Rebecca, a sophisticated beauty queen aspirant as well as Katrina Halili's portrayal of Dorcas, a timid and self-effacing girl who struggles to get out of her shell.
This week, tension ignites between best friends Maita (Iza Calzado) and Rebecca (Maggie Wilson) after the latter finds out that Maita is the woman Marc (TJ Trinidad) is fantasizing about. Meanwhile, Maita joins a bikini competition hoping to bring home the grand prize. She plans to use the cash prize to bail her mother out of prison. However, Maita is unaware that Rebecca is one of the judges.
Beauty Queen airs weeknights on GMA Telebabad right after Ilumina.
