GMA Network once again proved its forte in delivering beautiful traditional drama soaps in primetime TV following the runaway success of Stairway to Heaven in the hearts of television audiences.
Based on data from AGB Nielsen Philippines’ overnight ratings among Mega Manila households, Stairway to Heaven continues to beat its competitor with 28.9% and 31.2% overnight ratings on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
Viewers instantly fell in love with the characters of star-crossed lovers Cholo and Jodi played by Dingdong Dantes and Rhian Ramos. Both stars were able to give stellar performances to their respective roles which by far exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Dingdong’s portrayal of Cholo is a big revelation in the remake. He is very convincing as the Pinoy Cholo along with his arresting good looks and impressive acting skills. Viewers are continuously impressed by Dingdong’s range of emotions which simply bewitches and makes everyone swoon over him even more.
Rhian, on the other hand, shines in her own way as the Pinay Jodi. She gives a new face on the character of Jodi/Jena which excites and surprises her adoring fans and supporters. She is truly exquisite, a beauty to behold as they show progresses.
Moreover, Jean Garcia as Maita and Glaiza de Castro as Eunice show commendable portrayals as the contravidas of the show. Their devious characters were evenly executed and as the story unfolds, viewers will doubly hate the roles of Maita and Eunice as they continue to make Jena/Jodi’s life a living hell.
This week, witness how Cholo relentlessly tries to convince Jena that she is his long-lost girlfriend Jodi. But the more he spends time with Jena, the more he falls in love with her. As he tries to bring her memory back, Charlie and Eunice are determined not to let it happen.
How long can Charlie hide the truth to Jodi? Will Charlie and Eunice succeed to separate the two fated lovers?
Stairway to Heaven airs weeknights right after Darna on GMA Telebabad.
In 2006, Pilma noticed that her breasts were getting bigger. She suspected that a cyst caused the enlargement, while an albularyo in their barrio told Pilma that someone might have cursed her.
Still, Pilma opted to go under the knife to remove the mass. But a few months after the operation, her breast suddenly grew bigger again. She was then diagnosed having Gigantomastia or the abnormal growth of breast. Presently, her breasts weigh as heavy as two kids.
Finally, Pilma’s burden will be eased by Wish Ko Lang! with Vicky Morales, this Saturday on GMA Network.
After Valerie Concepcion graced the cover of FHM Philippines last month, it's kapuso hot momma Jennylyn Mercado's turn to scorch the readers of the leading men's magazine.
The cover story on Jennylyn has the subtitle: The versatile star unleashes a howler of a comeback. This is the second time that the Starstruck winner graced the cover of FHM Philippines. The fist time was last January 2008 when she was 1 month pregnant.
Jennylyn is currently seen on GMA 7's pre-primetime soap "Ikaw Sana".
She will also star in the 2010 movie "Tatak ng Bilangguan: Anak ni Baby Ama 3" opposite Robin Padilla.
The fever brought about by today's number one primetime program, Darna, continues as viewers remain glued on television every night to catch the breathtaking adventures of the classic Pinay superhero.
The original Mars Ravelo comics classic, has been soaring heights since its premiere. The viewers’ interest in Darna’s electrifying story has been translated into high TV ratings.
Based on data from AGB Nielsen Philippines, Darna posted an average household rating of 35.1% from September 1 to October 16 in Mega Manila while its competition logged an average of 26.9% for the same period.
Darna's success is not only due to its powerhouse cast led by Primetime Queen Marian Rivera, multi-awarded actor-director Eddie Garcia, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Iwa Moto and others, but also because the action-packed and emotionally-gripping scenes have appealed to viewers of all ages.
In the story, Darna has overpowered the supervillains who wrecked havoc in their town – Babaeng Impakta (Nadine Samonte), Babaeng Lawin (Ehra Madrigal) and Babaeng Tuod (Francine Prieto).
It can be recalled that Darna was about to kill the evil Impi (Mura) when the latter’s twin sister Roma a.k.a. Babaeng Impakta jumped from the church tower to end her life. Roma's body was buried but Impi’s was seized by Dr. Morgan (Ricky Davao) for experimentation.
Then, Armida a.k.a Babaeng Lawin arrived and attacked people. She wanted to get even with her brother, Father Mateo (Eddie Garcia), the town’s parish priest. During her fight with Darna, Babaeng Lawin accidentally hit herself with her own feather blades. But instead of expressing gratitude for once again saving the town, Darna was condemned by Father Mateo and his supporters for killing Babaeng Lawin. This caused the young superheroine to feel reluctant in her mission to save the world.
But when Babaeng Tuod (Francine Prieto) came in to sow terror and asked for Darna, Narda decided to save the world again. To destroy the giant driftwood, Darna set Babaeng Tuod on fire and threw her in a volcano.
Unknown to Darna, Babaeng Tuod did not die, but rather changed to her human form named Lucifera. She went to the orphanage where Narda lives. Impi, meanwhile, managed to escape the laboratory and went back to the orphanage to kill Narda.
More thrilling action and suspense await viewers in the coming episodes because more than the supervillains, Darna will be facing Kobra (Paolo Contis) and his evil children – Valentina (Iwa Moto), Serpentina (Sabrina Man) and Zandro (also played by Paolo Contis).
Darna airs weeknights after 24Oras on GMA Telebabad.

BUBBLE GANG is undoubtedly the country’s most successful and most popular gag show. From a list of perfectly executed gags and commercial spoofs to the funny sketches and the recurring characters that keep us all in stitches, it is not surprising how it has remained number one even after 14 years of existence.
In celebrating its ivory year, Bubble Gang has prepared a special primer highlighting the show’s unique brand of comedy, as well as three equally hilarious flicks, which will air on October 23 and 30, respectively.
Entitled “14 Going Steady”, the primer will feature not only exclusive behind the scenes of the three flicks, but it will also look back on the past 14 years of BG - from its inception in 1995, its evolution as the country’s leading gag show, the various trends and craze it has created, and its impact on Philippine pop culture.
If that’s not enough, it will also uncover never-before-heard trivia about some of BG’s well-loved segments, and interviews with celebrities, TV viewers, and former “bubblers” recalling their cherished memories of the show.
Lastly, “14 Going Steady” host Paolo Bediones will get to know the Bubble Barkada - Ogie Alcasid, Michael V., Wendell Ramos, Antonio Aquitania, Rufa Mae Quinto, Francine Prieto and Maureen Larrazabal – through a sit-down interview that will unleash not only their funny side, but more interestingly, their kinky side as well.
Then on October 30, three films outfitted for television, which was created by Bubble Gang’s very own creative team and pioneering cast member Michael V., will cap off this two-part anniversary special. One is a horror film, the other is a spoof of a famous Koreanovela, and the last is a scintillating sexy comedy. The films will star the Bubble Gang cast along with celebrity guests Dennis Trillo, Iza Calzado, Julia Clarete, and Ms. Regine Velasquez.
Flick through Bubble Gang’s rich history and celebrate 14 years of superb comedy. Catch “14 Going Steady” on October 23 and the actual airing of the three movies on October 30 on GMA Network.

Regal Films revealed that Marian Rivera's horror fantasy film "Nieves", which is supposed to be an entry in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival, is on hold.
Nieves is a spin-off from the Regal Films Metro Manila Filmfest entry "Shake, Rattle and Roll X" which was shown last year. It is supposed to be one of this year's MMFF entry under the title "Nieves: The Engkanto Slayer" together with two other Regal Films movies Mano Po 6: My Mother starring Sharon Cuneta and Shake, Rattle and Roll XI starring Ruffa Gutierrez among others.
Speculations that "Nieves" has been shelved started when PEP tweeted this morning that the project will not push through. According to PEP's scoopbox:
Hindi na matutuloy ang film project ni Marian Rivera with Regal, ang Nieves. Health reason daw on the part of the director ang rason.
Mike Tuviera is the director of Nieves and the filming of the said movie was supposed to start this week but based from the report, health reasons on the part of the director was the reason why it's being shelved.
The marketing department of Regal Films, on the other hand, did not confirm if Nieves was indeed shelved nor cancelled. They only said that the film is currently on hold. They are still in the process of deliberating if Nieves will make it in the 35th Metro Manila Film Festival or be screened in a later date.
Starmometer also asked Regal Films how much did Tarot (Marian Rivera's recent movie), earned at the box office. Cheska, from Regal's marketing department, said they are not allowed to divulge the box office gross of any of their movies.
Nieves: The Engkanto Slayer is a co-production of Regal Films and APT Entertainment.
